LINCS Family Center: Connecting Area Families to Essential Services Through Northampton County Community Development Block Grant

Greater Wilson Area – LINCS Family Center is utilizing funds from a $20,000 Northampton County Community Development Block Grant to connect local families to needed services. Through a partnership with CONCERN for Kids, a social worker evaluates the needs of local residents and suggests resources to meet those needs.

In the first three months of the program, 40 households and 134 individuals have been served and connected to essential services. Resource contacts such as emergency rental assistance, affordable housing, SNAP food assistance, access to healthcare, utility assistance, shelter, food bank referrals, counseling services, and crisis intervention were provided. Assistance with applying for services and donations of food and clothing were also offered in certain instances.

The federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program provides funding through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) that allows the County of Northampton Department of Community & Economic Development (DCED) to assist in the development of viable communities, by funding activities that assist people with low incomes in meeting their needs for housing or services.

If you are a member of the Wilson Area School District community and are in need of assistance, please contact Sherry Darr, BSW, School Based Resource Coordinator at or 484-577-0056.
